On late Monday, June 8, amid the death of President Omar Bongo Ondimba, the Defence ministry closed all Gabon’s borders for an indeterminate period and deployed security forces across the country.
Gabon reopened its borders on Tuesday, June 9th, one day after announcing their closure amid the death of President Omar Bongo.
On Monday, June 22, Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, who has been in office since last January, declared a state of emergency in the country.
